FAQ
The Bonza Remote Shop
Question 1.
My remote suddenly stopped working? Any ideas?
Answer 1.
Yes. Firstly, check your batteries haven't shifted and are in place with good contact. If it's still not working, replace your remote's batteries with brand new batteries.
Question 1(B).
I just put brand new batteries in my remote and it's not working. What can I do?
Answer 1(B). Check to see if the contact springs in the battery compartment are in place making good contact. If the springs have been bent over, carefully and gently bend them back into place. Then, taking care to not bend the battery spring posts, instal the batteries.
Question 2.
One or a few of my remote's buttons are difficult to use. I have to press hard on them to work. What is wrong?
Answer 2.
The contacts inside the remote are worn and have poor or low contact. Replace your remote control. But first check to see if it's covered by Warranty.
Question 3.
Can I fix the buttons with poor contact?
Answer 4.
No. I've seen many customers over the years try to fix their remotes, but none were successful, not even as a temporary measure. In fact, they say the remote is even worse after they've taken the remote apart to clean the contact surfaces. What they have done is removed even more of the high contact surface, making the contact even worse.
Question 5. What should I do with my broken or worn out remote control?
Answer 5. Be responsible. Take your old remote along with your other broken or worn out or redundant E Waste items to your local E Waste Recovery Centre.
In my local area in Banyule, Banyule Council provides for residents Free Of Charge an
E Waste Recovery Centre at 300 Waterdale Road Heidelberg Heights.
For other locations, look up "E waste recovery centre" on the web.
PLEASE DO NOT THROW YOUR OLD REMOTE INTO YOUR HOUSEHOLD WASTE BIN. It ends up in land fill and pollutes soil, ground water, etc. etc. etc..
Question 6. Is it worth buying an original remote with a logo or should I buy a copy without a logo?
Answer 6. Answer. Yes. For an extra $5 you can buy an original remote control. It will last longer and give you better service.
Question 7. My dog has chewed on 2 remotes and broken them. Any advice?
Answer 7. Yes. Buy a remote holder to mount it on the wall.
Question 8. My baby chewed on the remote when it was on the floor and now the remote is not working. What should I do?
Answer 8. Buy a Remote Holder to mount it out of reach of your child. In the meantime, don't leave the remote anywhere your child can reach it.
Remotes are a choking hazard. Some even contain button batteries. If swallowed, it's
diabolical.
